According to the sources listed above, Florence was born to Walter Ebert and Sarah Amanda Johnson Woodyard between 1846 and 1848. She married William H. Dawson October 26th 1870 in Harrison County WV at the age of 24. To their union were born two children a son, Walter Ebert November 8th 1878 and a daughter, May.

Mrs. Florence Dawson, widow of William H. Dawson, died at her late home, West Pike Street, at 4:20 o’clock Tuesday morning, April 23, 1901, after several weeks’ illness of stomach trouble.

Mrs. Dawson was a daughter of Walter Ebert, deceased, one of Clarksburg’s early settlers and widely remembered business men.

She was born in Clarksburg, reared here and spent all her life in this city. She was 56 years of age. A son, Walter E. Dawson, and a daughter, Miss May Dawson, survive, besides a number of other relatives.

She was long identified with Goff Chapel M. E. Church in which she was an active, devout, consistent member, ever ready for any work of benevolence falling to her lot or presenting itself to her.

She was a loving, indulgent mother, a kind and sympathetic neighbor, a noble woman. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock and interment was made in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
