UNVEILING OF WINDOW
The Daily Telegram., March 23, 1907

At Christ Episcopal Church in Memory of Parents of Mrs. Richard T. Lowndes.
At the morning service of Easter Day there will be unveiled at Christ Episcopal Church a memorial window of unusual beauty in expression. It is a gift to the church from Mrs. Richard T. Lowndes.
The memorial was executed in Favrile glass by the Tiffany Studios of New York, and has for its subject, the passage of the 14th chapter of the Gospel of St. John in which Christ comforting his disciples, say: “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh to the Father but by me.” This passage is thoughtfully and reverently expressed by the artist, Mr. Frederick Wilson, who in his conception of a just delineation of the theme, shows a mountain path, dark at the base, and glowing with light at the summit. Struggling upward, at the end of life’s toilsome journey, their eyes illumined with the light of faith, are two pilgrims, and standing above them is the Savior, at his feet a lantern signifying the light of the world, with his arms outstretched to receive them into the house of many mansions. In the treatment of the theme, there is an ideality of understanding of the spiritual force of the subject, and in every sense the fullness of the divine lesson is apparent.
The coloring of the window is of unusual depth of tone, and there is an evidence of an appreciation of the use of glass necessary to the demands of every element of design, expression, symbolic value and light effect. The panel at the base of the window bears the dedicatory inscription:
Waldo P. Goff
