NUTTER FORT — Jane Linn Osborn Rogers died August 5, 2013, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV.
She was the widow of Pliny Rogers, who preceded her in death December 18, 1992.
Mrs. Rogers was born in Clarksburg, WV, August 27, 1917, the daughter of the late Dr. Robert Linn Osborn, a former Clarksburg City Manager, Clarksburg Health Director and West Virginia State Police Superintendent, and the late Myrtle Smith Osborn.
Mrs. Rogers was educated in the local schools and later attended Chatham College, Pittsburgh, PA, and West Virginia University, from which she received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees. She continued her graduate study at New York University, New York City, and Oxford University, Oxford, England.

Mrs. Rogers taught for 50 years, spending 30 years in Harrison County Schools and 20 years as an instructor of English at the Clarksburg Branch of Fairmont State College. She retired in 1995.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by a son and a daughter both of Clarksburg, WV. One grandchild also survives. Other survivors include two stepdaughters and four step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, a charter member of the Clarksburg League for Service, a member of the Scottish Heritage Society, the Tuesday Club, a former member of the Clarksburg Country Club and a former member of Oral Lake Fishing Club.

According to the wishes of the deceased, there will be no visitation and following cremation, a private burial service will be held.
