BUSY AND USEFUL MAN

Before His Affliction Came Ten Years Ago and Had Many Friends in the County.

At 8 o’clock Friday morning Russell S. Hornor died at the West Virginia hospital at Weston, where he received treatment since last May ten years ago.

Mr. Hornor was born at Lumberport in 1852 and was 55 years of age. He was a son of Col. and Mrs. F. Y. Hornor, of this city, and a brother of Benjamin F, Hornor, of this city, and the late Charles S. Hornor, of Lumberport, and father of Ray Morris Hornor, of this city, his only child, whose mother before her marriage was Miss Sarah Alice Morris, daughter of Isaac Morris and sister of Mrs. William H. Fleming, of Shinnston.

For 24 years Mr. Hornor was a member of the officiate of the West Virginia bank here, serving both as bookkeeper and assistant cashier. Later and at the time his affliction came he was a bookkeeper at the Traders National bank. As a banker he was at the top of the list being a man of fine business judgement, training and experience.

Memberships

Of an engaging and magnetic personality Mr. Hornor ever had a host of friends, whose deepest sympathy went out to him and his family, when his mind over-taxed gave away and through all the years of his affliction much interest was manifested in his condition and all hoped he might be restored to his former brilliant mind.

Mr. Hornor was a member of Adelphi Lodge No. 8, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, a Pythian of the Uniform Rank, and a Mason. These orders will be represented at the funeral and burial, with the Odd Fellows in charge.
