Samuel Thompson died at 6 o’clock, Monday morning, January 7, 1901, at his late residence on Mulberry Street at the age of 78 years.
Diseases incident to old age caused his death. Interment was made at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
Rev. William Anderson officiated. A large concourse of relatives and friends from Salem, Wolf Summit, Wilsonburg and this city was in attendance.
The wife, one son and four daughters survive him. The son is Charles F. Thompson, of this city; and the daughters are, Mrs. John Thrall of Fairmont; Mrs. S. L. Brooks, of Belington; Mrs. A. D. Fultz, of Wolf Summit; and Miss Rebecca Thompson, of this city.
Mr. Thompson was born and reared near Wolf Summit and resided there all his life until the past two or three years, during which he was a citizen of the county and had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
