About Us

The Historic Clarksburg WV Cemetery Preservation Alliance (HCWVCPA) is a dedicated nonprofit organization. HCWVCPA commits to the perpetual care, restoration, and preservation of historic cemeteries in Clarksburg, West Virginia, and surrounding areas. Our mission is to honor and maintain the final resting places that other organizations can no longer maintain.

Founded in September 2011 as a volunteer community effort, we officially incorporated in 2016. The HCWVCPA takes immense pride in restoring dignity to the dearly departed and their burial grounds.

Our Work Encompasses:

  • Perpetual Care & Restoration: We provide ground-keeping services, carefully reset fallen or sunken markers, and repair damaged headstones and footstones.
  • Historical Preservation: We conduct vast research into the history of individuals buried in these cemeteries. We update burial records and compile biographical information. We make this historical data publicly available to honor those interred and restore peace of mind to living relatives.
  • Education & Outreach: We engage the community to share the rich heritage these historic grounds hold. This ensures that future generations cherish and maintain these testaments to West Virginia’s past.
